WTW Strengthens Support for Health Insurers Globally as Demand for Analytics Grows
WTW (NASDAQ: WTW) announced today the expansion of its insurance consulting and technology capabilities within the global health insurance market to meet rapidly rising demand for expertise to navigate the fast-changing healthcare sector.
WTW’s Insurance Consulting and Technology business has bolstered its specialist health insurance practice by a series of strategic appointments to combine global health domain expertise with WTW’s existing deep insurance and analytical expertise.
The most recent additions include Lisa Balboa, previously responsible for Hannover Re’s global Life and Health Digital Business Accelerator, and Marc Miller, former Chief Strategy Officer at Medibank with extensive global expertise in healthcare systems. These hires complement existing appointments to date that include James Haybyrne, former Head of Pricing Transformation for Bupa, and Jessica Plewes, who brings significant experience in actuarial health consulting and previously served as proposition innovation lead in Bupa’s Accelerated Growth team.
The enhanced remit of the global specialist team will support the strategic transformation of health insurers seeking to improve claims performance, enhance products and propositions, strengthen pricing and underwriting, and optimise customer value.
Frank Schepers, Global Leader of WTW’s Insurance Consulting and Technology business, commented: “WTW offers a unique combination of strategic health insurance consulting with analytical expertise, underpinned by cutting-edge technology. The health insurance practice as a unified global offering formalises this capability, significantly broadening and deepening its proposition across customer, claims, operations and business transformation.”
Health insurers face increasing pressures from fundamental changes in the consumer and provider markets. Successfully navigating this evolving landscape requires a high level of expertise in customer management, pricing and underwriting, claims management and provider networks, as well as the detection of fraud, waste and abuse. The effective adoption of advanced analytics, data science tools and predictive modelling capabilities is essential to operating within this dynamic environment.
Schepers said: “WTW brings to health insurance next-generation capabilities, innovation and leadership from other lines of business as health insurers look to add greater sophistication to their businesses. Our latest investments reaffirm WTW’s commitment to delivering innovative solutions that address our clients’ most complex challenges within healthcare.”
