Referral Agent flags cases for referral and builds a ready-to-send package in one click, setting the stage for more action-oriented capabilities across underwriting. Referrals are one of the biggest slowdowns in underwriting. When an underwriter runs into a case that needs a second opinion – whether from a manager, a senior underwriter, or another department – they have to pause their work, gather all the details, and write up a package explaining why the case needs to be referred. Putting this together, plus drafting the email to get it approved, can take nearly an hour. And with up to 40% of applications requiring escalation, underwriters can spend half their day packaging referrals instead of evaluating risk. Sixfold’s Referral Agent changes this completely. Insurers can now ingest their referral guidelines into Sixfold, letting the AI instantly flag cases that need escalation, show exactly why, and draft the entire referral email – complete with referral reasons and case links. Underwriters simply review, edit if needed, and hit send.
