Spider-Man Fans Fooled by Allianz CEO in ‘Brand New Day’ Set Photo

The first set photos from Spider-Man: Brand New Day appeared online this week, sparking fan speculation, especially over a blurry shot of a “wanted” poster.

What led some to believe the  figure’s glasses might be Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), fueling rumors that the film’s plot will involve Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and the Punisher (Jon Bernthal) confronting the Savage Hulk. However, new close-ups have debunked that theory as the  man on the poster isn’t Banner or any Marvel character; it’s Allianz Insurance CEO Colm Holmes

The image was apparently placed by activists accusing Holmes of “complicity in war crimes and genocide.” and Holmes won’t be tangling with Spider-Man onscreen.

Unlike the previous trilogy (Homecoming, Far From Home, No Way Home), Brand New Day takes its name from a 2008 comic arc that follows Peter Parker trying to rebuild his life after the events of One More Day and Civil War. The film sees the return of Holland as Peter Parker and Bernthal as Frank Castle. Joining them are Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas, with Michael Mando rumored to return as the Scorpion. Steven Yeun is reportedly in talks for an undisclosed role.

There’s speculation Sink may play Carlie Cooper or Lily Hollister, aka Menace both of which were introduced in the Brand New Day comic run. Director Destin Daniel Cretton teased an emotional, fresh take on Spidey at CinemaCon: “We’re nerding out over the suit, the swings, and crafting something we haven’t seen before.”

Tom Holland didn’t attend Sony’s Las Vegas presentation but sent fans a video message confirming his excitement for what’s next.
