Roque Martinez, '20SPS, Executive Technology Management, is the Chief Technology Officer of SmartStream Reference Data Utility (RDU). He has been a vital member of several leadership teams at financial technology software and telecommunications companies, advancing to CTO after holding roles such as Executive Vice President, Managing Director, Board Member, and mentor across for-profit and non-profit institutions. Martinez specializes in leading digital change and innovation, focusing on identifying opportunities to take advantage of new products and services. When he is not creating new products and services for RDU, Martinez serves as an Associate for Columbia University's Technology Management Master's program, working with future leaders and entrepreneurs. Roque Martinez is currently developing new services to assist financial services firms with adapting to and taking advantage of digital disruption, enabling them to reduce the amount of effort and time necessary to move from trade to settlement. Much of Martinez's work originated from his Columbia master's project on machine learning and financial services. His project addressed the ability to use machine learning to predict the validity of trade reference data. He's also been featured in and published articles on the subject. A hands-on technology executive with a successful track record in delivering sophisticated software in complex environments. Demonstrated vision in the conception of long-range strategies as well as executing tactical goals. Ability to create products, as well as provide leadership for large organizations and project teams. Provide principal direction to product development and management, internal technology, and Research & Development, across legacy and open system platforms. Established expertise in distributed computing, relational databases, network architecture, and web-based applications. Created and implemented internal processes and established productive relationships with members of business and technology groups.
