Duck Creek Technologies Successfully Delivers HDFC ERGO’s New Core Insurtech Solution in Nine Months

Duck Creek Technologies, the intelligent solutions provider defining the future of property and casualty (P&C) and general insurance, has successfully delivered HDFC ERGO General Insurance’s new SaaS-delivered policy, rating, and billing core insurance delivery solution in nine months. The rapid delivery, Duck Creek’s first in India, required the development of local layers and content built from the ground up.

Duck Creek was selected to deliver HDFC ERGO’s full suite, also including claims, for their range of coverage across retail, commercial, agricultural, specialty, and health. Their Commercial Fire product was the first to go live on the new platform and will be followed by health, retail motor, marine and liability coverages. Their remaining products will go live thereafter.

Within a dynamic environment of fast-changing regulations, market conditions and customer expectations, Duck Creek’s solutions will empower HDFC ERGO to offer more affordable, accessible, and personalised insurance coverage to new, and increasingly diverse customer segments and distribution channels. In line with HDFC ERGO’s commitment to offer hyper-personalised solutions to customers with new-age digital solutions, it will also allow the insurer to offer more intuitive customer experiences, including quicker quotes and claims outcomes, as well as faster go-to-market capabilities, increased responsiveness and agility, improved efficiencies, and enhanced data security.

“As a leading non-life insurer of India, who is also committed to offering superior and hyper-personalised solutions to our customers with new-age digital solutions, we understand the importance of adapting to an upgraded technology platform,” says Parthanil Ghosh, Director and Chief Business Officer, HDFC ERGO General Insurance.

“With an aim to deliver more value to our customers in an ever-evolving world, we began this journey with Duck Creek a year and a half back, and today we are happy to announce a successful implementation of this platform” says Ghosh. “The robust power of this new platform enables us faster go-to-market capabilities, customised offerings, improved efficiencies, and enhanced data security. We are confident that this new initiative will help us in addressing the evolving needs of our customers with innovative and customised solutions; and contribute towards the regulator’s vision of making insurance affordable and accessible to citizens of India.”

“India’s insurance sector is experiencing a once-in-a-generation change. Not only has the sector been growing organically, new regulation is also being passed at a rapid rate, creating exciting new opportunities to protect more people and businesses,” says Chris McCloskey, Chief Operating Officer of Duck Creek.

“To make the most of these opportunities, India’s insurers need to respond fast, and we’re proud that we’ve been able to support HDFC ERGO General Insurance, one of the leading general insurers in India, and deliver their new SaaS core insurance solution, including new country layers and content, in just nine months,” says McCloskey. “Thanks to the features and capabilities of our highly configurable and intuitive applications, HDFC ERGO will have the agility and responsiveness to design and launch new and more personalised coverages and customer experiences in weeks, not months.”
